School has started and, I know, all the posts everyone writes on fashion are geared to the kids. Well, moms want to look good and trendy too, right?! Well, I am here to tell you how to do that and budget friendly! Especially if you are the type that doesn't know HOW to put styles together. I am here to help!

Some moms really struggle with the day to day wardrobe. Things that are comfortable, kid friendly (you know, you can take the kids to school and look cute but it will hold up to the baby spitting up on you lol) and are budget friendly. What does your day-to-day fall/winter wardrobe look like?

For me, as a work at home mom, my day to day is similar to this:

Not only do the moms think I look great, but so do the teens and college kids! I get compliments left and right. My trick  is easier than you think! First, on Pinterest (I also save on Instagram), save all the outfits similar to this that are comfy and fashionable. Next, you're going shopping in your own wardrobe to see what you have. Do you have sweaters that will layer well with shirts and t-shirts? Long sleeved t-shirts? Especially striped are popular! Boots and booties?

Let's talk stores...

Goodwill

My first secret is Goodwill. I stalk mine! I am in a college town so I get things often with tags! And brand names! So, for goodwill, you can always keep your eye out for the statement piece like the cape or the suede vest in the pics. But, what you'll most likely find is your standards. Keep your eye open for quality turtlenecks, long sleeved t-shirts, sweaters, jeans, leggings, cargo vests and jackets, denim jackets, booties and boots. Even dresses that will pair well with leggings! You can always refer to the pics you've saved to pinterest/insta/ or your phone, when first starting out.

Consignment Shops

Also look up consignment shops in your area. They are budget friendly and often have name brands and statement pieces. See that suede vest and cape in the first group of photos? I found those at my favorite consignment shop.

Target

My last favorite is Target. It is budget friendly and I have gotten some of my favorite items here from my skinny (Mossimo) jeans to cargo vests and jackets.

What to watch for...

Comfy Pants

I watch for leggings, stretchy pants and, again, my favorite skinny stretch jean is Mossimo at Target (opt for high waist as it prevents the dreaded muffin top).

Cozy Dresses

Dresses that pair well with leggings will be warm and stylish! You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort!

Sweaters

You are looking for good layering pieces. Pieces that you pair with a great long sleeved T or turtleneck project the stylishness you are looking for!

Vests

Vests are another warm layer but stylish piece to watch for!

Scarves

Scarves also lend a flair to any outfit. I haven't paid full price for any of mine and have a rather large collection!

Final Tips

  • If you are hiding trouble spots, opt for loose fitting that graze your body but do not accentuate.
  • Don't go too loose and flowy or you will look pregnant.
  • Don't be afraid to mix patterns!
  • Shirts are generally not tucked in.
  • Layering is key.
