Top 4 Tips for Assembling the Perfect Festive Holiday Outfit
Hey there! Happy Tuesday!
Can you believe we have EXACTLY ONE WEEK until Christmas? It seriously blows my mind. I love the build-up to Christmas but it's bittersweet.
One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is getting to dress up! Whether it be ugly sweaters for a party or my Christmas Day outfit, I love it all! Another of my favorite parts of this time of year is getting in pajamas for the whole day. Working from home allows days like that 😉 With the whirlwind of holiday work and festivities, there's nothing better than cozy lounging while watching Christmas movies with hot chocolate! 😉 Remember to slow down a little. Take in more moments.
While I live in Florida now, I recently lived in Iowa. When I moved to Iowa, I remember being so nervous about what to wear for the winter months. It gets very cold there. I am a Florida girl with winter wear. Not even a winter coat. The thought of accumulating a winter wardrobe was daunting.
Sure, winter wear can be expensive but there ARE great affordable options out there if you know where and how to look for them!
Lucky for you … having lived in the winter climate … I have tricks! With all of these amazing holiday deals going on, you'll be able to find many options!
As Christmas is upon us, I thought I’d share some Christmas outfit inspiration. The outfit ideas range from dressy to comfortable.I have compiled a lookbook of Christmas outfits that have caught my eye to share with you! While theirs may be designer, there are affordable look-alike options for putting together festive holiday outfits.
My Top 4 Holiday Outfit Tips
Embrace Plaid
Tartan plaid is seen everywhere this time of year. While it's a festive mix of holiday colors, it's also great for every day.
It's simple to pull this off with a tartan plaid shirt accompanied by black pants or a skirt. When wearing black as the base, you can add another pop of red with your shoes. Since most of us have these pieces already in our closets, it's just seeing how to assemble, which I show below.
Pops of Red or Green
While adding a touch of red or green to your outfit is simple, it certainly takes it over the top. You can add the touch of color with a blazer, bag, or shoes or just with your nail and lip color.
Go Glam
This is the perfect time to go for the glam you typically may steer clear of. Wearing metallics, a piece of statement jewelry or sequins is festive during this time! Attempt to pull from your closet first but if you need to, try a faux fur or a great piece of jewelry. These can take an LBD to the next level.
Keep It Simple
One of the biggest tips I can give is to keep it simple. For example, throw together white pants with a red sweater and a scarf and it is instantly festive. Here's some simple inspiration:

Mad For Plaid
Since this is my favorite ;), I've brought you a few looks to copy 🙂
This lovely look is from whitecoatwardrobe whomI've followed on Insta for quite some time. She always manages to come up with some great looks! It's easy enough to copy with a simple red skirt, red plaid top, and black or neutral heels.
To assemble this outfit, I narrowed down a couple of amazingly cute and affordable skirts: here and here. You can also opt for a black skirt (here and here) and wear red shoes (here, here and here).
For the plaid shirt, I purchased a red plaid shirt from Walmart but sadly it isn't online. You will have to go in for that one. You can grab an affordable option here, here, and here.

Velvet
There's not a better time to wear velvet than the holiday season, am I right?! <3 Velvet is versatile as. it can be dressed up or down. Velvet looks great paired with jeans for a more casual look or with a skirt and worn to a party! Since velvet comes in many colors and styles, there's plenty of options. Best of all, you'll be stylish but warm! This is one of the most festive pieces for holiday outfits!

LBD
A little black dress always looks good. And if you are unsure of an events attire, other than formal, an lbd always looks like it fits right in and is timeless. Thow a shawl over your shoulders for a pop of color. Go for a classic look and you will be memorable!
