Cash is hardly used anywhere anymore, but we still rely on it.  Disney World especially is someplace you might overlook the importance of cash.  Disney has the vacation experience down. Once you touch down in Orlando, they whisk you away on a magical coach and you don't have to worry about a thing.  You can even check into your room remotely and charge almost everything to your room using the magic band. But bring cash, because not everything is automatic.

Bell services do not require a tip, but they do accept them, unlike some Disney Cast Members.  The custom is to tip for these services on the basis of each bag handled. $1-2 each is average.  That goes for anybody who handles your bags as you come and go.

Transportation and Parking

Mickey's Magical Express coach is the official start of your Disney vacation if you are flying into Orlando.  The service is free for guests who are staying at a Disney World resort. Your checked luggage is picked up at the baggage claim by Disney and sent separately to your hotel.  All you have to do is check in at Disney's Magical Express and you will be directed to the appropriate coach.

While the drive is complimentary the driver accepts tips.  Magical Express drivers also fall under the category of baggage handler, because they put the bags you are carrying in the storage below.

While transportation in Disney World is mostly free, you may choose to take a taxi and use cash. Valet services will also be available and tipping in cash is appropriate.

Housekeeping

You can actually save money by opting out of housekeeping if you are the type that typically prefers to put the privacy sign on the door.  However, if you do want maid service it is another one of those things that require you to have cash on hand to leave a tip.

It's also important to note that you do not have one made assigned to your room for the duration of your trip, so tipping all at the end may not go to all the right people.  Customarily, you will want to tip on a "per person" basis for everyone staying in the room.

Vendors

Balloon Vendors and those people that dot the parade route with roll away carts typically do not accept cards, or magic bands.  So, if you want one of those glow in the dark necklaces you will have to pay cash. Luckily the prices are all nice round numbers.  So, no coins are necessary.

Games/Coin Machines

Those fun arcade attractions like the Shootin’ Arcade in Frontierland and the carnival games at Boardwalk Inn require cash to play.  You will also need cash for those pressed penny machines. Arcade games at the hotels do not take cash, however. Instead, they operate using pre-charged game cards.

I hope this article helped you! As someone who only carries cards and no cash, I am often caught off guard by this. Don't let that happen to you. Let me know if my Disney series has helped in your planning.
